Photographer & Image Privacy
Recommended rules for ownership, portfolio permission, AI use, production access and deletion of client photographs.
1. Ownership of submitted images
Submitting photographs for editing does not transfer ownership to Pixeldotedit. The photographer remains responsible for copyright, model permissions and the lawful basis for sharing client images with an outsourced post-production provider.
2. No automatic portfolio license
An editing order is permission to process the files—not permission to publish them. Pixeldotedit should not place client images on its website, social media, advertisements, case studies or sales materials without separate written photographer authorization and any client/model consent required by law or contract.
3. AI and model training
The recommended Pixeldotedit policy is that private client photographs are not used to train public or third-party generative AI models unless the photographer has separately opted in with a clear, lawful authorization. AI-assisted editing tools, if used, should be evaluated for data-retention and training terms before production use.
4. Access control
Image access should be limited to team members and approved processors who need the files to complete the order, support the client, maintain security or fulfill documented legal obligations.
5. Metadata and personal data
Photographs can contain faces, timestamps, locations, camera metadata and other personal information. Treat image files and catalogs as client data even when the photographer’s client name is not visible in the filename.
6. Sensitive genres
Boudoir, glamour, intimate portraiture, minors, medical/appearance-sensitive content and private family events require stricter handling. Use the Boudoir Privacy policy and additional client instructions where applicable.
7. Retention and deletion
Define a production-file retention period. The photographer should be able to request earlier deletion after delivery where operationally feasible, subject to backups, dispute records, legal obligations and system lifecycle constraints.
8. Data incidents
Maintain a documented process to investigate suspected unauthorized image access, contain the issue and notify affected photographers when required by law or contract.
